Fashion Week New York Spring/Summer 2015. collections

As promised I took time to review every single of so far showed collections on #NYFW for Spring/Summer 2015. season, this posts covers my favorite pieces from first two days days, Tuesday to Thursday.

TADASHI SHOJI got inspired by Venice’s Ca’ d’Oro golden palace which sits on the Grand Canal. The whole collection is very romantic, soft, made out of lace, chiffon, gorgette and tulle featuring red carpet ready gowns out of which was really hard for me to choose favorites as they are all really gorgeous. None of the dresses can be pulled of as day wear but hey….girl can dream about having a red carpet occasions to wear these beauties to!

BCBG MAX AZRIA prepared a floral gowns for Spring but this was not your average floral print but rather smudged, almost like painted soft pastel color print making fabrics look like a beautiful picture canvas. The mood of the show was very bohemian and care free. My favorite dresses from the collection were these silk wrap dresses with oriental obi belt.

COSTELLO TAGLIAPIETRA designer duo Robert Tagliapietra and his partner Jeffrey Costello wanted to highlight each piece by delineating the lines. My very favorite piece from this collection is an olive silk jumpsuit accented by navy color leather belt. Other pieces are liked are classic gentle little black dress and layered mismatches look featuring lace pencil skirt below the knee and sporty button up shirt with large black pocket squares.

MISSONI took Frida Kahlo as inspiration for this Spring/Summer 2014. collection and tried to reinterpret her iconic themes. My favorite pieces being shorts suites, beautiful print t-shirt dress and jumpsuit as well as cropped top red striped dress.

CREATURES OF COMFORT prepared beautiful casual collection for SS 15′ season which is perfect for everyday working women. Earthy fabric color pallet as well as simple cuts make this collection very comfy, approachable and sellable. My favorite pieces are soft button up blazer tops over naked skin matched with soft sweatshirt pants or maxi skirt.

ESCADA it wasn’t surprising that Escada continued with vivid color pallet in their SS 15′ collection featuring hit color of the season – purple. Escada design director commented collection as “fashion floriculture—with flowers in all forms, from exotic to romantic.” My favorite pieces were again floral jumpsuit with matching fitted blazer, long sleeveless purple jumpsuit and black and purple floral silk dress.

MARISSA WEBB continued with her signature everyday chic effortless looks in SS 15′ line. Beautiful army trenches and jackets and paired with light breezy dresses – which is my favorite Fall look, I wear my military Fall jacket from Ralph Lauren for years now with light floral dresses.

JOSIE NATORI drew inspiration from her native Philippines. The show started with neutral and sandy color tones decorated with traditional embroidery and obi belts, I really love the three quarter sleeve jacket with embroidery and floral print jumpsuit tied in waist with obi belt which seems to be a common thread of many SS 15′ collections.

KAELEN collection could be described as flirty, floral and sophisticated. Beautiful emerald fluid floral print dresses and blush and off white color chiffon jumpsuits with large kangaroo pockets were the highlight of the collection for me. All of the looks were effortless, looked comfortable and easy to wear both casual and dressy so I predict a really good sales for this collection.

NICHOLAS K. siblings design team took a trip to Morocco to get inspired for their SS 15′ collection. Nicholas K. lady for Spring is an explorer in North Africa, un urban warrior, which I think is a storyline and persona many modern city women will relate to. My absolute favorites were olive green loosely wrapped silk dress and firm leather pouch bags as well as long camo pants with leather knee patches.

SACHIN & BABI collection was named Noir. Brand’s signature embroidery is still visible in this young, energetic and sporty collection as designers described it. Looking at it, I loved every single piece (including shoes) and think the brand found a great young and chic way to present sportswear which ladies 20 to 50 will be able to combine and wear across seasons.

TSE SS 15′ collection is inspired by mixed-media artist Simone Shubuck and the most noticable pieces are made out of lightweight cashmere. I love the look of white and powder pink short and v-neck cashmere set as well as loosely fitted pants, t-shirt and vest three piece.

How do you like my selection of best pieces from first two days of New York Fashion Week?
