Working with over hundred designers now as I am curating and doing fashion buying for Trendcy.com I continue to hear them calling the collections trans-seasonal, meaning they don’t classify them as much anymore as Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter. Those that do still classify their seasons then have also pre-Fall and Resort capsules or full blown collections which many claim to sell better (Roland Mouret saids pre-seasons makes 70% of his sales) then their seasonal ones.
Personally I also stopped doing seasonal sale shopping or looking at my clothes as war and cold weather clothes, living in much milder and urban climate of Barcelona in Spain now I am also more interested in trans-seasonal items. Now in (very) late 20s I am looking for good quality classic pieces with modern, urban twist which with proper care I can wear for multiple seasons for couple of years or more and style in various ways for work and play.
My favorite resort 2015. collection is most definitely Burberry Prorsum. I love brand’s modern take on pencil skirt and urban twist to iconic trench which they manage to cleverly update each season.
Burberry Prorsum resort 2015. collection features beautiful cashmere v-necks and sweaters, casual, romantic and floaty evening wear – I am a total sucker for these maxi silk long sleeve, sheer dresses which I can definitely wear in Summer on sandals and in Winter and Fall with boots and leather jacket. Collection contains also beautiful silk shirt-dresses, librarian length pencil skirts in various fabrications and prints, wide collared pea coats and of course reworked traditional trench coats.
Dona Karen continues to celebrate street spirit with her fresh resort 2015 collection. Although my favorite pieces which you can see below on photos are romantic and soft blush pink and red feather dresses, oversized coats and lace dresses and skirts, collection also featured graphic black and white elements, crisp button up shirts, lame pleated skirts and loose trousers all in tomboy cuts accessorized with canvas baseball caps.
Designer Roland Mouret invests a lot in his pre collections as they make majority of his sales, he stayed true to his signature cuts and fit, so we could see as always beautiful fitted silhouettes which make confident, classy and sexy work and play wear. Color pallet was fresh with orange sorbet, mint and touches of blue, white and back on his signature draped front dresses worn with elegant and very practical flat pointy sandals. As always Roland’s collection is comprised of perfect looks for smart semi-formal dressing.
MaxMara was always a safe place for me to go and shop for work clothing and all of the pieces I got there I still own for now five years and still look new so I can certainly testify on the quality and longevity of their pieces. Although the prices are a bit high, number of wears you will get out of each piece will definitely justify the investment.
MaxMara resort 2015. collection titled street lux is definitely reminding me of beautifully put together, expensive but practical and chic work wear of New York City women. Collection features slouchy pants, beautiful double face cashmere coats (my favorite is this pink and gray on the picture below), mink jackets, loose sweaters (definitely trans-seasonal items) and gorgeous leather and cashmere pencil skirts (my personal favorite) all accessorized with chunky chain jewelry for that streety hip-hop touch and popular metallic velcro sneakers for comfort during daily commute. Absolutely gorgeous collection!
I will be definitely saving up for a pencil skirt and coat from one of these three collections! True investment pieces which will for sure serve me well for many years to come!
