Rwanda, known as land of a thousand hills, rainforests and unseen beauty.

Certainly, the best thing is to have an experienced guide in a tour around this beautiful country, and the brothers Karenzi are the best. Experienced Charles Karenzi answered at our questions related to this interesting work that they both perform with passion in order to show everyone the beauty of their exotic country in the heart of Africa.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V4IIC2njWo

W: In your opinion why is Rwanda so attractive to visit? What are you especially proud of? Can you point out some outstanding attraction in your country?
Renowned as the land of a thousand hills, visiting Rwanda you will be spoilt with scenic views where ever you stand. Its capital Kigali is by far the cleanest city in the whole of East Africa and our outstanding attractions are definitely our Mountain gorillas in the Volcano Mountains and visiting Nyungwe eco rain forest which offers a complete primate experience.

W: How would you describe living, people, culture and the customs of your country to us?
Rwanda is one of the safest counties in Africa and I find that the people are extremely friendly and helpful, Rwandan people pride themselves in the fact that there is one shared dialect throughout the county (Kinyarwanda) and have a great pride in their culture.

W: How did you come up with the idea to provide services to visiting tourists? Which sightseeing can you offer and how much your services cost?
There was a need for professional travel services with a personalized touch. But personally for me, it was the love for my country and the desire to share the Rich culture of the Rwandan people. We offer are wide range of packages from arts and cultural tours, historical tours, birding experiences, gorilla trekking tours, helicopter safaris , relaxation and leisure tours, primate experiences

W: What was the key to your success and what was the most challenging aspect of your job?
The key to our success is our meticulous team that go out of their way to ensure that they have every needed piece of information about the client’s travel needs and ensure that every need/expectation is been met.
Challenge is last minute bookings can’t normally happen as bookings have to be made well in advance (about 6 months in advance) in order to be able to get gorilla permits and the best lodges in the high season which starts from May till end of August. Best advice for clients is to book with us in advance.

W: Is it demanding to drive tourist through your country and what arrangements can you do for them?
No its not, it’s a lot of fun. I take pride in job as a driver guide, so I have to be knowledgeable with the tourism products, so with that I seriously enjoy the sharing aspect of my job, taking them through my country and visiting all the different breath taking land marks.
Booking their tickets to and from Rwanda , Meet and Greet services at the airport , offering advice on the most suitable tour package for the client, providing a professional driver guide throughout the trip, booking accommodation that suits their budget, making sure they have a seamless enjoyable tour from start to finish

W: From which countries tourists came to visit Rwanda and did they expect a lot from their visits?
The UK, Belgium, France, Germany America, Turkey and we would definitely like to host tourists from Croatia. The majority had never visited Rwanda and their expectations were the bare minimal combined with curiosity but what I love is that they always leave with the feeling of absolute awe, Thank goodness, thus far, we have had only positive feedback.

W: Can you describe your working day in the car, when you drove guests around?
I ensure that I have the itinerary for the tour ready with a complete understanding of it , enough refreshments for clients, have all the information on hand of the tourist sites in the country

W: Can you tell us any nice anecdote that you have experienced?
Most of the time, it is the surprise from clients on what they find when they visit Rwanda as most still only know the negative stereotypes. They are all pleasantly surprised to find 5 star lodges in the middle of nowhere.

W: What are the main features of the local cuisine of Rwanda?
The main features of Rwandan cuisine include bananas, plantains, pulses, sweet potatoes, beans, and cassava (manioc).

W: What channels and social networks do you prefer to use, and how do you reach for clients from around the world? How much and what role have social media in your overall strategy?
We have our own website www.uberluxesafaris.com that is accessible to everyone around the world, we also have a twitter and Facebook account that is constantly updated. Email us on info@uberluxesafaris.com

W: What are your plans for this year?
Definitely organize holidays for Croatians to Rwanda, understand what type of holidays they need and create the most suitable packages that suit each and every type of client

It may sound like a fairytale, but this is the reality of Quique Dacosta’s incredible career: as a teenager, he started out working as a kitchen porter in the restaurant that now bears his name. Since 2009, the head chef has run the Quique Dacosta Restaurante, stunningly surrounded by the Mediterranean and one of just nine Spanish restaurants to have been awarded three Michelin stars.

But a life spent over the stove was not the one he had always dreamed of – when he first came to Dénia aged 14, he wanted to be a DJ. Today, he is more than happy to compare his work to his one-time dream job: “What the two professions have in common is the idea of transforming something. A DJ makes music from individual sounds, while a chef takes organic raw ingredients and turns them into a culinary experience.” Luckily for us, the gourmet side of him won out.

But it is not only the story of the Quique Dacosta Restaurante, which has been named amongst ‘The World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ during the last years, that is extraordinary: wherever possible, the Michelin-starred chef uses locally sourced produce from within 75 km of his restaurant on Spain’s Costa Blanca. Rather than restricting Dacosta, this has the opposite effect, creating an outlet for his endless curiosity, his passion for research and his creativity: all of the character traits that sing out from his dishes.

Dacosta’s style is all about pushing boundaries. He and his team push flavour, concept and technique to the very limits of what is possible, finding individual nuances in each. What results is a culinary language that is unmistakeably the mark of a chef at the top of his game.

The self-taught chef’s menus consist of upwards of 30 dishes, delicate masterpieces that represent the diversity of the different regions of Spain. Culture, tradition, flavour and story-telling are all brought together to form hisminimalist dishes. And his philosophy has remained the same for more than 15 years: high-quality produce, perfect craftsmanship and respect for nature. This has given birth to creations such as tea of mantis shrimp and leaves of artichoke from Vega Baja, and langoustines on the grill, green curry avocado and corn. But named as one of Spain’s 25 most elegant men, Dacosta’s fame extends beyond the walls of his kitchen.

Visitors to the Valencia Museum of Illustration and Modernity in 2015 were able to experience a very special exhibition, as Dacosta had depicted there the long road he had taken to find his contemporary, Mediterranean style. Not to mention his long-established career as a popular author, with five books to his name.

Those who wish to experience this renaissance man in his element will get their chance when Quique Dacosta shows the Restaurant Ikarus in Salzburg’s Hangar-7 what he can do in November 2017.

Mark Twain once wrote “Mauritius was made first, and then heaven; and that heaven was copied after Mauritius”. Indeed, this paradise island that dramatically emerges from the Indian Ocean’s azure shades is on the list of travel-lovers who want to be on active and luxurious vacation, newlyweds who seek perfect location for a honeymoon destination and fans of untouched nature.

Mauritius attracts divers from all over the world. Other very popular activities are underwater fishing, watching giant turtles and dolphins, as well as spectacular colorful sand and water lily that are so big that one can stand on them. Worth of visiting are the tea plantation, museum dedicated to the rum with tasting options, and indulging yourself in the magical National Park Black River Gorges.

The most beautiful beach in the world

On Mauritius is located a beach which is proclaimed as the most beautiful in the world – Trou aux Biches. Three kilometers of white sand that alternates with turquoise blue sky and ocean, as well as green coconut trees that provide shade are great reasons why this place creates unforgettable memories and photographs that can not be taken anywhere in the world.

Many who visited Mauritius stayed there. Famous Diane Lane, who has been in our resort, Pierce Brosnan and many other movie stars were thrilled with our island and the natural spectacle of the island. This was told by Assistant Chief Executive Officer Fatima Chuttoo for whom we could say that he is working on earthly heaven, between Grand Baie and the capital of Port Louis, in the luxurious resort of Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa. Her mother is from Mauritius, and her father came from South Africa and settled on this beautifull island. Fatima grew up in a Muslim Catholic family full of love, commemorating the feasts of both religions, and in the family who put special attention to her education.

“The island is completly multicultural and this is beauty of it, but even friends do not discuss about politics and religion. We can talk about anything else and we believe in the uniqueness of our culture. This is the “magic of the island,” explains Fatima, who is passionate about her job, which is one of the many reasons that the guests of a luxury resort feel like they are at home. Indeed, Trou aux Biches can boast with the fidelity of its visitors, some of them visit this place for more then twenty years.

Fellowship with guests

“I know when my day starts, but I never know when it will end. From the moment I wake up, I can hardly wait to start the meetings, arranging the schedule, and welcoming the guests at breakfast. I greet them there and check out about their night. On the begging of the day my main source of energy is that morning meeting.

Then I go to the office, do the remaining obligations, and for lunch I visit my guests again to check how they are. Between meetings and training seminars I am involved in organizing groups and other jobs. In full capacity, we have about 900 guests at rooms and villas. Our hotel is the largest in the our group on this island.

“Many are wondering why I’m working so late, but my answer is ismple “I do not work, but enjoy having fun with our guests.” The best way to look at it is to visit us. We welcome all the guests from Croatia and look forward to your arrival on our beautiful island, “says Fatima, whose warmth can not be described in words.

Love – in front of everithing

The care for guests who stays in one of the most beautiful resorts in the world is widely known, as one can see numerous comments that guests leave on the Internet.

I’ve always worked in tourism, and I started in Trou aux Biches, led by my passion for work. I got other offers, but I believe in the success of this hotel. I love it, just like our guests returning for the hospitality we provide them. I try to know my guests by name, I am honest and happy and my smile comes from the depths of my heart.

“The warmth of the hotel’s staff, their kindness and accessibility delight anyone who is in the Trou aux Biches in search for a relaxed vacation. Fortunately, distant destinations become more and more accessible thanks to airline companies, as in our case Turkish airlines.” adds Fatima. In the past, Mauritius was not as well known as today.

Family vacations

As she says, today many guests come from Europe and know exactly what they want and expect a lot from that experince. They come prepared, and they know which places they want to visit, in which restaurants they want to taste the island cuisine and what attractions are worth of their attention. There are often parents with children as well, as they offer free childcare facilities that work from morning till dark. For children younger than three years, reliable nannies are taken care of.

Villas and bungalows

Bungalows and villas with pools, shaded by palms form a whole with island nature, with its colors and materials. Warmth of the wood, alternates with waterfalls and fountains. The southernmost resort on the island, Trou aux Biches, lives in harmony with the environment thanks to the ecological solutions that exploit the sun and sea water energy for heating and greenery.

Guests can choose the accommodation that suits them best, whether it is a tropical ambience or family-friendly, and all have spacious terraces or balconies and privacy. There is a variety of gastronomic offer that can be tasted in one of six restaurants, from Thai to Italian and Indian cuisine.

Highlights:

> Turkish Airlines is an airline company flying to the destinations from any other airline company. We currently have more than 290 destinations. The last destination we opened in July is Phuket.

> We fly from Zagreb twice a with morning flight we offer an excellent connection with America, which is an extremely important market for us. In America, we fly to New York, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, Washington.

> The city of Istanbul, which serves as a hub, has an extremely important geographic position, as it is possible to reach more than 80 destinations within 3 hours.

> 6 times in a row we are proclaimed the best airline in Europe, and our business and economic class are always rewarding and recognizable. It is also important to mention the CIP lounge in Istanbul for which it says it is larger than some airports. Excellent service, versatility in food supply is a reason to be rewarded every year by Skytrax. This year we are proud to be the world’s best business lounger.

> One interesting thing is that Turkish Airlines offers its passengers a free Istanbul tour if they wait more than 6 hours. Tours are varied, some include meals, depending on the waiting time, and passengers come to enjoy the beauty of Istanbul, instead of spending time at the airport.

A French chef in the land of opportunity? There could hardly be a more mouth-watering prospect. At his New York City properties Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud persuasively demonstrates the result of mixing Europe’s most influential cuisine with a country whose motto is ‘higher, faster, further’.

Today, Boulud’s restaurant empire extends to Palm Beach, Miami, Boston, Washington D.C., Montreal, Toronto, London and Singapore, as well as his six New York restaurants and three locations of his gourmet shop Epicerie Boulud. Yet of all these ventures, the best know is his flagship Daniel, named one of the 10 best restaurants worldwide by International Herald Tribune. Diners can expect elegant ambience, welcoming service and last, but of course not least, a true culinary experience, which has played no small part in earning the restaurant its two Michelin stars.

Growing up on his family’s farm near Lyon in France, Boulud soon learnt the importance of fresh ingredients and the power of the seasons. It is this that influence that inspires him to this day, as well as memories of his grandmother’s home cooking. “It is really important to me to use ingredients right when they are in season, when they are practically bursting with flavour,” the Michelin-starred chef notes.

His career began at the age of 15, when he made it to the final round of a French competition to find the best ‘Apprentice-Chef’. He then worked in France and Denmark alongside three of France’s most legendary chefs: Roger Vergé, Georges Blanc and Michel Guérard. In 1982, he moved to America to take on the role of private chef to the European Commission in Washington D.C., subsequently making his name at New York City’s Polo Club and Le Cirque before launching his own ventures. Ever since his arrival in the U.S., Boulud’s reputation has continued to grow on a worldwide scale, in no small part due to his traditional yet imaginative ‘French export’ cuisine.

Boulud’s passion for nature plays an important role in his dishes – after all, these passions have accompanied him throughout his life. This is particularly plain to see in the use and utilisation of ingredients: “It is all about using the produce in the best possible way. I am constantly asking myself how every last bit of unused food can be made use of or recycled,” he explains.

At any given time, the menu at Daniel pays homage to seasons, simultaneously featuring the finest foraged ingredients and wild game from across the country and overseas. With more than 20 years of history and a very loyal clientele, the restaurant has also become famous for such annual events as its autumn Wild Game dinner or the La Paulée celebration of Burgundy wines each spring.

Those who wish to delve into the flavours of Daniel Boulud’s creations can do so when he takes over the Restaurant Ikarus in Salzburg’s Hangar-7 as guest chef in July 2017.
Those wishing to experience these perfectionist creations for themselves will have the chance in June 2017, when Thomas Bühner graces Restaurant Ikarus in Salzburg’s Hangar-7 with his tenure as guest chef.

“If I’m going to be a chef, then I’m going to have to be a good one.” This is the standard that Michelin-starred chef Thomas Bühner has held himself to since leaving school. Fortunately, he followed his careers advisor’s suggestion that he become either a chef, a baker or a farmer, and Bühner has now been regarded amongst the highest echelon of German chefs for more than 20 years, one of just ten master craftsmen to have been awarded three Michelin stars.

Situated in a classical, 18th century listed building in the heart of historic Osnabrück, Thomas Bühner has run the la vie restaurant since 2006. A simple, cosy and relaxing environment – so the diners can truly appreciate the culinary fireworks produced by the avant-garde aroma alchemist. Bühner works with the conviction that there is no more authentic and intense flavour than that of the pure and simple original taste of an individual ingredient. In this spirit, the Michelin-starred chef often spends weeks tinkering and tweaking to fine tune his perfectionist creations. When Thomas Bühner truly unleashes his creativity it is a feast for both the palate and the eyes, proving that the 19 points awarded to him in the Gault Millau are well deserved.

He finds inspiration in the largest kitchen garden in Germany at Ippenburg Castle, where he and his team head out early in the morning to harvest produce for his culinary creations. Rather than a procession of individual courses, Bühner’s explosions of flavour come together to form a symphony where sometimes the violin comes to the fore and at other times the oboe – that is to say, sometimes it is the pure flavour of the meat that sings out, while at other moments it is the combination of herbs which hits the highest notes – but the overall piece emerges from the entire orchestra playing in harmony. Dishes full of creativity, passion and technical precision await those who come to experience this celebration of the senses.

The best way to describe The Clove Club is ‘down to earth’: “We really wanted to make something that was personal to us, a restaurant for our generation,” explains the chef. And in The Clove Club, he has certainly succeeded: a place where guests can feel at home, where they are personally looked after while enjoying high quality food. “You have to make time for your guests and really interact with them. We’re very good at that.”

Though a common concept elsewhere, Bühner’s second motto is rarely heard in kitchens: ‘foot off the pedal’. Here he is referring to the speed at which dishes are prepared, but also to the temperature: using gentle vacuum and low-temperature cooking techniques, the aromas of fish, meat and vegetables can be brought out to incredible effect. For proof, look no further than his dish ‘Pure Deer’: rather than using conventional methods to create a sauce, he has developed a pure gravy, using vacuum evaporation to capture the essence of a full flavour that requires no additional spices, roasted aromats or tannins.

Those wishing to experience these perfectionist creations for themselves will have the chance in June 2017, when Thomas Bühner graces Restaurant Ikarus in Salzburg’s Hangar-7 with his tenure as guest chef.

With 85 million international arrivals in 2015, France is the world’s number 1 tourism destination. This is a position it has occupied for over 25 years, and that represents a genuine opportunity for the national economy. Nevertheless, the potential for growth is still highly significant, as the World Tourism Organisation predicts that international travel will double over the coming 20 years.

Tourism development

Atout France, the French government’s sole operator in terms of tourism development, is entrusted with contributing to the reinforcement of the attractiveness of Destination France and of the competitiveness of its companies and related sectors. Thanks to its 33 offices spread across 30 countries and to a strong collaboration with the Embassies in nearly 70 markets, this agency has developed a unique expertise along with a precise understanding of the international tourism clientele and of the various bodies involved in its distribution. They target the general public with a strong digital strategy – a website, www.france.fr, but also with communication campaigns and publications. Atout France promotional actions aim raising awareness of destination assets via exhibitions, workshops, sales calls, fam and press trips, press conferences; all designed for international travel-trade professionals and the media.

Brain storming and learning

Atout France also organises several market-leading trade shows every year, such as Rendez-vous en France which brings together, as well as Grand Ski, Destination Vignobles, France Meeting Hub…, in order to stimulate the tourism offer and enhance its quality.

Atout France organize many trade shows and workshops during the year in different cities such as Vienna, Rome or Paris that gathers thousands of experts from across Europe to discuss and exchange information – says the Atout director for Austria and Central Europe, Corinne Foulquier.

Factors that contribute to the assurance of quality are also headed up by Atout France: classification of tourist accommodation, registration of travel operators and also label schemes, such as the „Vignobles & Découvertes“ label for the wine tourism sector, used by 54 vineyards.

Thirty to forty thousand tourists from Croatia annually visits Alps. Croats often come to Paris, but they also discover other destinations. For example, last year, during the UEFA European Championship, numerous tourists from Croatia discovered Bordeaux. They often visit Aquitaine, France Basque and other parts of the country. Croats come to France to enjoy art, architecture and especially gastronomy. Our two countries are firmly connected with food and wine – says Corinne Foulquier.

Wine heaven

In 2015, France’s wine-making region of Champagne and a part of Burgundy have been granted “world heritage status” by the UNESCO. Both French sites are recognized for their vinicultural heritage; the hillsides, houses and cellars of Champagne around Reims and Epernay, and the 1,247 climates, or individual terroirs, of the Côte d’Or in Burgundy. The historic centers of Beaune and Dijon are also very well known. UNESCO praised the champagne vineyards of Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, as well as Saint-Nicaise Hill, a street in the regional capital Reims dotted with champagne houses. In Burgundy, the fields that grow vines on the slopes of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, south of the city of Dijon, are “an outstanding example of grape cultivation and wine production developed since the High Middle Ages”.

Gastronomy and sport

Creating and showcasing gastronomy trails in France is an integral part of Atout France’s key strategy, but also sport is very important.
When it comes to growing trends in French tourism, it is certainly gastronomy, but also the sport that is more and more in focus. In 2018. Ryder Cup will be held in France. It’s one of the most prestigious golfing competitions organized every two years – adds a tourism expert.

The Ryder Cup matches will be held at the Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, one of the few courses in Europe able to welcome 80,000 spectators. It takes place every two years. It is a trophy reward for the winners of a match between a European team and an American one. The greatest players have participated, and continue to participate in this event: Severiano Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods…

Magical destinations

Many people think that France is very expensive, but prices of accommodation are lower than in Italy, and the quality is often higher. You can contact local travel agencies – we have many experts who organize a tailor-made holidays designed to individual interests so that everyone can find something for themselves. Besides gastronomy and wine, religious tourism is also very important to us. There are Lourdes, Mont-Saint-Michel, Chartres and many other places where you can explore French heritage. Also it’s worth to spend a day at Saint-Émillion. The medieval atmosphere and vineyards cannot be described in words. And Chartres is a beautiful city. It is world famous for its cathedral listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO. Every nightfall from April to September, Chartres invites you to spend a magical night watching the “Lights of Chartres”. During these events, cultural and architectural monuments and attractions are lit up and accompanied by music – says Corinne Foulquier.

On 210 consecutive evenings the cathedral, the former Episcopal Palace, the Italian Theatre, the façades of the 3 city portals, churches, bridges, and streets in the upper city, all part of the cultural heritage, are highlighted and illuminated. The Festival of Lights takes place on Saturday, September 16th 2017.

Armagnac: The jewel of the Gascony region.

Colours and scents characterize Armagnac, the centuries-old brandy. The vines brighten the valleys of the Gers district, where the local villages enjoy a lifestyle which celebrates wellbeing, fine food and wine.

At the heart of the Gascony region, the Armagnac vineyards have an authentic local heritage: remnants of the ancient Romain empire, chateaux, Flaran Abbey, and villages listed among the ‘Most Beautiful Villages of France’. These villages include Larressingle, often described as the ‘little Carcassonne’, the famous ancient fortified town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, or Fourcès, the historic circular-walled village.

In between a visit to a museum or a walk along part of the famous Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle pilgrims’ trail, you can meet the winemakers in the friendly Gascony villages during a tasting, and savour the world-famous local delicacies. The vines flourish in three wine districts which give Armagnac its unique character: the Bas-Armagnac (between Eauze and Nogaro), the Armagnac-Ténarèze (around Condom and Vic-Fezensac) and the Haut-Armagnac (between Auch and Lectoure).

Its traditional method of production gives Armagnac a unique spirit. France’s oldest brandy is made by the distillation of white wine in a traditional still. This production process is controlled by government regulations, dating back to 1936, which apply to the specific region where it is produced. Armagnac matures for many years in oak casks, where the contact with the wood produces its unique aromas and amber colour.

3 reasons to come here
1.Enjoy a unique landscape: the soft light on the rolling hills and valleys of the Gers region and the great views of the Pyrenees mountains.
2.Taste rare vintages in the numerous vineyards which are part of the Escapades in Armagnac network.
3.Participate in many events, such as the autumn Flame of Armagnac festival, and enjoy the farmers’ markets.

Taste the exceptional heritage of the Burgundy way of life.

At Chablis, in Burgundy, the Domaine Laroche reveals an exceptional history: the ninth-century Obédiencerie monastery, where Chablis, an emblematic French white wine, was born.

The Domaine Laroche allows you to discover the fascinating history of the white wine Chablis, with its rich religious and medieval heritage, and to taste the Burgundy way of life. The Obédiencerie is a site rich in history and Christian heritage. It is here, in this former monastery at Chablis, that the monks of Saint Martin de Tours developed the craft of winemaking in the Middle Ages.

The Laroche family installed the headquarters of its vineyard in the magnificent building and takes great care of this living heritage. Visitors can admire the twelfth-century grape press, a unique device classified on the list of French historic monuments, and the wine cellars, the oldest in the village (ninth and twelfth centuries), which are still being used today.

A Saint Martin vintage to remind us that wine is for sharing

The Domaine Laroche continues to produce and mature its four top grand cru wines and 10 high-quality premier cru wines under the historic and peaceful monastic arches. Wine tastings are held here and allow you to appreciate all the subtleties of the Chardonnay grapes, grown in a mosaic of different areas, which make up the Chablis white wine. The vineyard has, among other things, developed a Saint Martin wine to highlight this long history, in which wine is a symbol of sharing.

Near the vineyard, the Hôtel du Vieux Moulin offers a wonderful getaway experience. All aspects of the Burgundy way of life are expressed in this charming hotel, which is built in a former eighteenth-century grain mill. The subtle mix of traditional architecture and contemporary design provides an intimate location in the centre of Chablis village, at the heart of this famous wine district, whose many different ‘climats’, or plots of land for growing grapes, have been classified as World Heritage sites. Several different types of weekend or short visits allow you to enjoy a unique wine tourism experience.
