Oktoberfest facts

Oktoberfest 19th September – 5th October 2015.

1. Its highly recommended to reserve tables!

2. Some 6.5 million people will visit the fairgrounds during the two-week event and together they will consume the same number in litres of beer as well as 500,000 roasted chickens, 120,000 pairs of sausages, 80,000 litres of wine, 50,000 pork knuckles, 30,000 bottles of champagne, and a gazillion pretzels. All told, fest-goers will bring an economic boon to the city of Munich to the tune of around €1billion, or US$1.3 billion. That’s roughly €62 million, or $80 million, per day!

3. In 2014, the price for a litre of beer (called a Maß, pronounced like ‘moss’) cost between €9.85 and €10.10, depending on the tent.

4. There is no cost to enter the festival grounds.

5. Besides beer, soda and mineral water are available in every tent, as well as alcohol-free beer (in litre mugs for the same price as normal beer).

6. Beer is served from 10:00 Mon-Fri (from 9:00 Sat/Sun) until last call around 22:20; tents begin closing at 22:45 but “Käfer’sWies’nSchänke” (No. 127. In all tents you have to be seated to order a beer. And you must order your beer from the server responsible for the section you’re in).

7. Where to party?

P1 Club

The rich and the beautiful, stars and starlets party here – and those are lucky who, despite being none of the above, manage to get past the bouncers. The best thing is to treat it like the locals do: drop by spontaneously at P1 from time to time and check out the atmosphere, because it can sometimes be really fun. Table reservations require a minimum spend!

H.E.A.R.T.

Restaurant, Bar & Club The hip masterminds of Club Baby created this bar/restaurant which actually feels more like a club. The chic Munich crowd adopted it as t their new party hotspot right away. The mood overall is very vibrant. On weekends, though, it gets crowded and cramped so make sure you reserve a table in advance (the best ones are close to the bar).

Wiesn Club

Some are certainly already desperately looking for an After-Wiesn Location: make the tents, you will find a taxi, need in the crowded subway and for eternal queues, you will no longer be let in. So it’s over now, because of the Oktoberfest Club in the Old Congress Hall is located two minutes from the Theresienwiese, directly behind the Bavaria. The Meadow Club is now an established after-Wiesn Party, each Wiesntag can from 10pm continue partying after your heart’s content and cavort in the various areas. 2014 offered the Meadow Club again a few highlights, including the hot boiling performances of Bandida Lounge, an exclusive champagne bar and small delicacies fresh from the grill for particularly hot hungry guests.
