Sagardi Shoreditch – Basque Restaurant

Following the success of their outposts across Spain and South America, Grupo Sagardi has opened their 30th restaurant on Shoreditch’s Curtain Road. Founded 18 years ago in Barcelona by Iñaki Viñaspre, the group champions the finest Basque produce and culinary traditions.

The Cuisine

Sagardi brings Basque country food and drink from the farms and taverns of the region straight to London. Fresh ingredients are flown in daily from San Sebastian to create a menu where the product takes centre stage, free from unnecessary ornamentation. Expect delicious seasonal pintxo (Basque-style tapas), juicy Galician beef, traditional ciders and much more.

The Space

Like all the restaurants in the group, Sagardi Shoreditch is split into the pintxos bar with its regional drinks menu and the grill restaurant with a central charcoal grill. Although an expansive 141-cover space, the wood and slate interiors here provide a warm, alluring ambience. Upon entry you’ll first pass the stand-alone butcher and then notice the impressive upturned boat suspended from the ceiling.
